Intravenous Sedation

Dental Sedation in Lanarkshire

If you are nervous about having dental treatment your dentist might suggest carrying out your treatment under intravenous sedation.

Intravenous sedation is a safe and effective adjunct to treatment used to help you relax during dental procedures - this is not a general anaesthetic and you will be awake, but very relaxed, throughout the procedure.

It involves:

  •     The sedative agent is given by injection into a vein in your arm or the back of the hand.
  •     You will remain conscious at all times and you will be able to talk and respond to verbal instructions.
  •     Once sedated you will also receive local anaesthetic so that the treatment can be carried out.
  •     Afterwards you will probably have a little or no memory of the procedure.

We have fully equipped, modern, sedation clinics at three separate locations: Stonehouse, Hamilton International Technology Park & Hallside Cambuslang. Please feel free to call and make an appointment for an initial consultation.

The Dentist will assess you and advise you of the options best suited for you. However, it should be noted that extractions under general sedation are best carried out at our Hamilton Business Park surgery.
